Saint Petersburg Tower & Racecourse Complex

A monumental 200-acre integrated masterplan featuring a 250-meter tower, a 100,000-seat sports racecourse, expo facilities, residential towers, commercial space, and an immersive water feature — directed under TQuadro SpA leadership.

This ambitious project represented one of the largest mixed-use developments in Russia, combining sporting, commercial, residential, and cultural functions within a single master-planned destination. The centerpiece was a 250-meter tower designed to serve as a landmark for Saint Petersburg's expanding urban landscape. Adjacent to it, a 100,000-seat racecourse was conceived as a world-class venue for equestrian sports and international events.

The masterplan also included residential towers, commercial spaces, supermarkets, a sports hall, expo facilities, and an immersive water feature — all seamlessly integrated across 200 acres of prime development land. The project was designed to support major international events and position Saint Petersburg as a premier destination for sports, business, and culture.

As Project Director and Structural Engineer, I led the technical direction and structural design for the entire complex, coordinating multidisciplinary teams across structural engineering, architectural design, and construction planning. My responsibilities included:

Technical Direction — Providing structural leadership for all components, including the 250m tower, the racecourse superstructure, residential and commercial towers, and supporting infrastructure.

Structural Design — Developing advanced structural systems including reinforced concrete core-wall configurations, steel-composite systems, and foundation designs optimized for the challenging northern climate.

Masterplan Coordination — Ensuring seamless integration of all components, including infrastructure, utilities, landscaping, and connectivity between uses.

Stakeholder Management — Coordinating with municipal authorities, international investors, and construction partners to ensure alignment with the project vision and delivery timeline.

Quality Assurance — Overseeing all structural design verification, method optimization, and construction stage analysis.

The project was delivered through direct collaboration with TQuadro SpA as lead engineering firm, Astaldi SpA as construction partner, and USM Holding / Alisher Usmanov as the client. This integrated team approach enabled the successful execution of one of Russia's most ambitious urban developments, creating a lasting legacy for Saint Petersburg and a benchmark for future mixed-use projects in the region.

Execution was achieved through direct collaboration between global design leaders, prime contractors, and private holding leaders — a seamless integration of vision, expertise, and authority that transformed ambitious concepts into built reality. These projects were not delivered in isolation. They required the coordinated effort of world-class architectural firms, structural engineering specialists, prime contractors with proven track records, and private investors with the vision and resources to bring mega-projects to life. I served as the technical bridge between these stakeholders, ensuring alignment of design intent, construction feasibility, and commercial viability.

Global design leaders brought architectural vision and creative direction. Prime contractors provided construction expertise, method optimization, and on-site execution. Private holding leaders supplied the strategic direction, financial resources, and long-term commitment necessary to sustain multi-year development programs. My role was to ensure that these diverse stakeholders operated as a unified team — with clear communication, shared objectives, and unwavering commitment to quality and safety. This collaboration model enabled the successful delivery of landmark high-rise towers, master-planned communities, and complex mixed-use developments across Russia, Italy, and Libya.

Consult on Complex High-Rise Engineering, Master Planning, and Directorship for Mega-Projects — Delivering Technical Excellence from Concept to Completion.

I provide independent consulting and executive direction for some of the world's most ambitious high-rise and mega-projects, offering strategic technical leadership across the full project lifecycle. My expertise spans the entire spectrum of tall building engineering — from conceptual design and master planning through detailed structural analysis, construction supervision, and final handover. High-Rise Engineering Expertise :  I bring deep technical knowledge to the design of supertall towers exceeding 300 meters, including reinforced concrete core-wall systems, composite steel structures, outrigger and belt truss systems, and tuned mass dampers for wind-induced motion control. My work addresses the full range of challenges inherent in high-rise design: seismic resilience, wind engineering, foundation optimization, progressive collapse prevention, and vertical transportation integration. Master Planning & Urban Integration: Beyond individual structures, I provide master planning expertise for large-scale urban developments, ensuring seamless integration of infrastructure, transportation, public spaces, and buildings. My approach considers not only the structural and technical requirements but also the social, economic, and environmental context — delivering developments that are sustainable, resilient, and beneficial to communities.

Project Directorship & Executive Leadership: As Project Director, I provide executive leadership for multi-billion dollar mega-projects, managing multidisciplinary teams across structural engineering, architecture, MEP, and construction. I oversee schedule, budget, quality, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring that every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of technical excellence. Global Track Record: My portfolio includes landmark high-rise towers and master-planned developments across Russia, Italy, Libya, and the Philippines, including the 450m Al Bayda Skyscraper in Libya, the Saint Petersburg Tower & Racecourse Complex in Russia, and mixed-use residential and commercial towers in Moscow and Sochi.
